How a cave works

Every cave is a hand-made puzzle on a grid. The rules are strict and the same every time, so a good plan always works.

  1. Dig

Pinion's auger claws carve through dirt. Every tunnel you dig changes what can fall next.

  2. Gather Aether Shards

Collect enough of the gold and cyan crystals and the cave's quota is met.

  3. Mind the stones

Stones and shards fall when nothing holds them up, and roll off anything rounded. A falling one crushes whatever is under it.

  4. Take the shaft down

Once the quota is met, the shaft opens. Reach it before the timer runs out and Pinion descends to the next cave.

Moments you'll remember

Stones fall, and they roll

Dig out the dirt under a stone and it drops one cell at a time. Stones roll off each other and off walls, so a whole slope can come down at once.

A creature turned into crystals

In The Copper Foundry, Pinion meets Spark-Mites and Aether-Moths. Drop a stone on an Aether-Moth and it bursts into a ring of Aether Shards.

Hidden ways

Some dirt is hollow. Dig into the right patch and a grate opens onto a side dungeon. Carved glyphs nearby hint where to look.

Rewind, tick by tick

Misjudged a stone? Hold rewind and step back through the last ten seconds. In Relax mode there is no timer and rewind has no limit.

Each cave is hand-made, from lamplit earth and loose scree to the brass of the foundry. These are real frames from the browser edition.
